Anybody else have tired, dry, winter feet? Just me?
Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) are a great way to counteract achy feet, and soaking in them on a regular basis is a great way to relax. Why, you ask? Well, they are easily absorbed by the body and provide a host of benefits for our magnesium deficient bodies. The magnesium ions break apart, promoting the production of serotonin and relieving stress. Magnesium also plays a critical role in the production of cells, and works to relieve muscle tension, pain, and inflammation. It also helps to flush out toxins and treat foot fungus!
Combine those benefits with the skin softening and detoxifying effects of baking soda, the moisturizing benefits of coconut oil, and the anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and invigorating effects of essential oils, and you've got the recipe for an amazing foot soak!
Lime-Mint Foot Soak
- 2 cups Epsom Salts
- 1/2 cup Baking Soda
- 1/4 cup coconut oil (or jojoba or almond)
- Zest of one lime
- 4 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (read about the essential oils that I use here)
- 4 Drops Lime Essential Oil
Combine all ingredients in a glass jar and use within a few weeks (omit the lime zest if you would like it to keep longer).
Add 1/2 cup to a warm foot bath and soak for at least 20-30 minutes. Relax and enjoy!
